Rockstar Games May Have Been Hacked, Again

Hacker group claims to have hacked Rockstar Games through a third-party service.

Today, April 11, reports began surfacing on the internet that Rockstar Games has been hacked. This wouldn’t be the first time: in 2022, the company had already suffered an attack when its internal messaging system was compromised, resulting in the leak of early development footage of GTA 6.

This time, it appears the perpetrators behind the attack are the hacker group known as “ShinyHunters.” Rockstar reportedly has until April 14 to pay a ransom; otherwise, the consequences could be severe.

The information comes from Insider Gaming, which reports that the group added Rockstar Games to its leak site on the dark web. It seems the breach occurred through a third-party service used by the company: Anodot, a SaaS tool focused on cloud cost monitoring. By infiltrating the Anodot server, the hackers stole authentication tokens that granted access to Snowflake, Rockstar Games’ primary data repository.

At the time of publishing, nothing has been officially confirmed by Rockstar. Still, the group has a history of attacking large corporations, including Microsoft, Cisco, and AT&T, which lends more credibility to the claims. If true, sensitive leaks regarding GTA 6 could happen depending on how this story unfolds.

All that’s left is to wait and follow the upcoming developments. For more updates on the case, stay tuned to Jogaverso.
