Canceled Prince of Persia Remake Surfaces in Newly Leaked Gameplay Footage

The information comes from game designer Chandra Kouns, who was involved with the project between 2021 and 2022.

Originally announced in 2020 and officially canceled by Ubisoft earlier this year, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has just received a melancholic detail for fans, with the leak of previously unseen gameplay footage.

The information comes from game designer Chandra Kouns, who was involved with the project between 2021 and 2022 and decided to share the material on his personal online portfolio.

In the brief images, it is possible to see the protagonist in combat alongside Princess Farah inside a library, as well as using the famous Dagger of Time.

The clip also shows the character performing the classic wall-running during a platforming section, jumping between walls.

Everything indicates that this version of the game is the one originally produced by Ubisoft’s studios in Pune and Mumbai, India, which was ultimately discarded by the company. At the time, it was speculated that the title had reached 99% completion before being shelved.

It is worth remembering that, after an extremely negative reception to the graphics shown in the first trailer, Ubisoft chose to restart development from scratch with the Montreal team, but without the expected success.

In January 2026, the company announced the definitive cancellation of the project, stating in a release that achieving the level of quality the franchise deserves would require far more time and investment than they could responsibly commit.
